Embracing My Roots, That Made Me Who I Am
Embracing my roots and my parents
I consider myself incredibly fortunate. Growing up in a loving family, I was surrounded by two remarkable individuals who shaped my perspective on life – my parents. They’ve been my guiding stars, each with unique qualities I aspire to emulate.
Story of my dad
My dad was a hardworking man who always made time for us amidst his busy schedule. We’d embark on little adventures in nature – hiking, camping, and exploring mountains and beaches. He never showed the challenges he faced at work; he remained positive and happy, carrying the weight of providing for our family on his shoulders. It wasn’t until I became independent and experienced the world of work that I truly understood his journey. His resilience and determination gave me the strength to tackle my challenges. After all, I am my father’s daughter, right?
Story of my mom
On the other hand, my mom was our family’s bedrock of mental support. While my dad worked outside, she created a comforting, secure, and loving environment at home. When I became a mother, her words echoed in my mind, “When you have your child, you will understand.” And I did. I connected with her journey even more, especially after she ventured into a transformative path in her 40s. Born frail, she was always passionate about nurturing her mind and body. As we grew up and needed less care, she dived into her long-contemplated interests. Not only did she regularly attend yoga classes, but she also became a certified yoga teacher. Her reason for doing so surprised me – she simply wanted to learn more, delve into the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of each position, and share that knowledge with others. When she began, she faced stiffness – a natural consequence of age. Yet, here she is, in her 60s, still teaching, helping others, and mastering headstands like it’s a piece of cake!
And here I am, Embracing my roots, my parents
For over a decade, I’ve lived like my dad – enduring the expected challenges and persevering through hardships without complaint. But now, I yearn to live like my mom. I want to embark on my journey, even if it starts today. I wonder, where did she find the strength? How did she push herself beyond her initial limitations and embrace such a remarkable transformation?
Her secret, I believe, lies in her passion. She isn’t merely working for money; she’s working for herself. To her, taking good care of her body and mind is essential, and yoga became her path to achieve that. Not everyone finds this drive, but I’m positive I’ll discover mine, too. After all, I am the daughter of my dad, who taught me to persevere through difficulties, and I am the daughter of my mom, who exemplifies finding eternal energy through her passion.
So, what now?
And so, my journey continues. Embracing my roots and my parents. The more I delve into my thoughts, the more I am convinced that I’m on the right path, destined to find my true calling. The inspiration from my parents will guide me, and I’m excited to see where it takes me.
