Between the arrival and Sinterklaasavond (Pakjesavond), you can embark on a magical tour of Sinterklaas’s magnificent steamboat! “De Stoomboot” is exclusively dedicated to Sinterklaas and travels throughout the Netherlands annually. During this exciting tour, children are guided in groups through the steamboat and get to experience the wonder and magic of Sinterklaas’s world.
Firstly, they pass the galley where Pieten are busy baking delicious and aromatic gingerbread nuts. Next, they walk past the bustling parcel room where the packing Pieten are working tirelessly to sort and wrap the presents. And then comes the tour’s highlight—meeting Sinterklaas in his office! But the fun doesn’t stop there. In the test room, Pieten are busy testing the latest and greatest toys, and children get to see them in action.
The tour lasts for approximately 30-40 minutes, and children are absolutely thrilled by this unique and unforgettable experience. And the best part? How Do You Arrange the Tickets?
To make a reservation for the boat, visit its website and select a convenient time slot. Reservations can be made every 15 minutes. Once you’ve made a reservation, you’ll receive a ticket via email. On the day of your reservation, make sure to arrive at the boat at least 5 minutes before the scheduled time. Your ticket will be checked before you board the boat. In case there’s a short wait, don’t worry, as about 25 people go in and out every 10 to 15 minutes. While you wait, Pieten will keep your children entertained.

The national arrival of Sinterklaas in 2023 will take place in Gorinchem on 18th November. The steamboat will start its journey in the Netherlands from Gorinchem and finish on Sinterklaasavond. Here is the schedule for the journey:
